Race Details:

2024 Trans Santa Enduro Race / Ride
WHO: Anyone mountain biker (e bikes included but different / more loose timing) who wants to partake! Must be capable of riding (or walking if needed) extremely challenging double black+ backcountry trails. Must also be fit and competent enough to complete the ride without outside assistance (none provided / allowed).
WHAT: An epic backcountry race / ride throughout some of the best trails in the Santa Ana Mountains!
[B}WHERE: The event will start at Skyline Drive Trailhead in Corona, California (this pin for exact location of registration tent / area: https://maps.app.goo.gl/segZWqTKDn2DiNQa9)
WHEN: Saturday, February 17th 2024. Registration is open from 6:30am - 8:00am. After registering you can then start the ride anytime after 7am.
HOW: We will have a tent / section that you will need to come and register at (waiver, course map, stage information / updates, time cutoffs, possible race plates?). Be sure to bring the necessary spare parts for your bike (tube, co2, allens), a riding backpack / hip pack, and enough food and water to complete the ride! Timing will be completed through strava so be sure to charge your devices to last the whole ride and publish your ride on public mode after completing the to be included in the results!
COST: This event is absolutely free, just bring good vibes! Most likely you should bring cash or card to stop at Silverado market after stage 2 to get food and drinks (splits up 30miles & 6,500ft climbing in half).

There are 2 different "categories" / "courses" for this race:
1. Main / A: ~45miles, ~10,000ft climbing, ~35min racing -> https://www.trailforks.com/route/2024-trans-santa-ana-enduro-54564/
2. B: ~30miles, ~6,800ft climbing, ~25min racing -> https://www.trailforks.com/route/2024-trans-santa-ana-enduro-b-ride/

Note that even the B ride is still extremely challenging to complete and rides some very gnarly trails. The B doesn't denote trail difficulty, only loop / ride size. Please realize that this is a self supported loop, you must be capable of completing the whole ride yourself and must be able to handle you and your bike down extremely challenging trails.
Currently the route for e bikes is undecided since the B route requires you to make the whole route on a single battery.

Rough Schedule
Here is a rough schedule of climbing and mileage to complete rides, detailed stage information in order (5 stages for A and 3 for B that must be completed in order), and the recommended latest drop in times. The drop in times are mainly for the "A loop" to ensure everyone completes the ride by the 6:30pm time cut off. If you feel like these times might be tight for you start at 7am instead of 8am.
- Leave cars / pits with a full backpack of water and food. Latest to leave at 8am.
- Transfer to Stage 1 (A & B): ~10miles, ~3000ft climbing, 1.5hour - 2.5 hours
- Stage 1 (Smashface) (A & B): 2.5miles, 2,200ft descending, ~11min30sec KOM, Drop in by 10:30am
- Transfer to Stage 2 (A & B): 1.5miles, ~700ft climbing, 30min - 1hour
- Stage 2 (Crosses / Ho Le Fuk) (A & B): 1mile, 1,000ft descending, ~3min KOM, Drop in by 12:00pm
- Pit stop at Silverado Market to fill up with food and water. Cash / Card needed.
- Transfer to Stage 3 (A & B): ~15miles, ~3000ft climbing, 2hour - 2.5hour
- Stage 3 (Skinsuit to Tin Min) (A & B): 1.7 miles, 1,900ft descending, ~7min KOM, Drop in by 2:30pm
- Ride back to Cars to fill up on water and food. ~30minutes. B loop is complete. A loop continues
- Transfer to Stage 4 (A): ~7miles, ~2,300ft climbing, ~1.5hour, Drop in by 4:30pm
- Stage 4 (Two Monkeys) (A): 1.5miles, 1,100ft descending, ~6min KOM
- Transfer to Stage 5 (A): ~4miles, ~1,700ft climbing, ~1.5 hour
- Stage 5 (Tombstone) (A): 1.3miles, 1,700ft descending, ~5min30sec KOM, Drop in by 6pm
- Ride back to the cars. ~30min
- Ride Completed!!! The deadline to complete it is 6:30pm!

Official times will be completed after the ride and sent out. We would love to have the top riders stay after the ride for a podium picture! However, because of the duration of this ride, we understand that many will have to leave shortly after. If you feel like you might end up on the podium (top 5) for either A or B ride, please take a photo of yourself after and we can likely try to photoshop something together!

We will have colored tape and start and end of all the segments to let you know when the official segments are starting and ending. Strava timing is pretty loose so ensure you give yourself a significant amount of run up and finish space to not accidentally sit on start or finish and increase your stage time. In addition we will have a different colored tape for any trail forks and / or gnarly sections to worry about.

Looking forward to seeing everyone out there and for an absolutely epic day! To stay up to date follow along at our instagram, https://www.instagram.com/transsantaana. Also join our Strava group for other information: https://www.strava.com/clubs/1101365.
