SaveThe Rally Center is the place to start your Cuyuna adventure, whether that entails feet, wheels or paddles. Two parking lots, one south and one north, give plenty of room to unload your gear.
Direct access to the Huntington Mine Lake is to the west, with direct access to the Pennington Mine Lake to the east. Through Pennington Lake a total of 5 other mine lakes are directly accessible. Via short portages, 4 other lakes are accessible.
From here all the major sections of the entire Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area are accessible. This includes all of the Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Trails. You can access the Cuyuna Lakes State Trail (paved) south of the Rally Center. You can access the Easy Street trail (one way, heading west) south of the Rally Center or the Switchback trail (one way; heading east) from this location. The Rally Center lies between the Mahnomen & Pennington Units. The Portsmouth Unit is east of Pennington Unit. The Yawkey Unit can be accessed via singletrack ( Switchback - North to Drag Line - South) or via the Cuyuna Lakes State Trail. The Sagamore Unit can be accessed via the Cuyuna Lakes State Trail, heading westerly.
