AZTEC’S MOUNTAIN BIKING TRAILS RANKED AMONG THE FOUR CORNERS’ BEST

For the truly adventurous, there is no greater thrill than mountain biking in Aztec’s high desert terrain. These landscapes offer technical slickrock, rocky elevation climbs and tumbling downhills, some of the finest single-track trails in the Southwest.

The Alien Run Trail System provides mountain bikers with the opportunity to experience a variety of trails in a high desert landscape. The trails are named for a rumored UFO crash site in the area.

The trails here provide a wide variety of experiences including; playful and flowing single track, exposed sections along the tops of escarpments, slickrock play areas, and loose and rocky challenging trail with significant changes in elevation.

The Alien Run Trail System is found in the southwestern reaches of the Colorado Plateau, a large physiographic region dominated by sandstone formations and pinyon-juniper forests.

One of the Bureau of Land Management's "Backyard to Backcountry" treasures, information on the Alien Run Trails-Super Loop was developed between IMBA and the Farmington, NM, BLM office to provide world-class riding experiences. IMBA's data on the trail includes elevations, ratings, current conditions, photos, and comments.
