Bowmont Park is a 164 Ha natural area in Calgary's NW. It is bordered by Home Road, the Bow River, Nose Hill Drive and the community of Silver Springs.

People have been walking up and down the slope between Silver Springs and the river for decades, and lots and lots of singletrack has been formed. There are good trails and not so good trail. Due to the SW exposure, these trails are some of the first to dry out in the entire city.
        Primary Trail Type: Cross-Country
        AKA: Bowmount Park
        Land Status: City Managed
Home Road Parking Lot google parking directions
        Access Info:
Access is from the parking lot just off Home Road and 52 St. NW, another parking lot at 51 Ave. NW [just north of the 85 St. / Bearspaw Dam Rd intersection]. The City's regional paved pathway runs the entire length of the park, and access from Silver Springs is everywhere.

I prefer this option vs. trying to climb that super steep section of and then shooting back down a steep descent two seconds later. I'm soft - Like Melvin Van Horne aka :).

I like to use this section of single track to connect 12 Mile and Bowmont. It is fast with a few steep hard punches. This one is a good one to practice keeping your speed to shoot up the steep up hills. Have fun!
