The climb itself is a bit challenging but very doable if you are in good shape and/or have an e-bike. There are a few sections that give pause on the ascent and descent due to narrow paths with steep fall possibilities but generally a pretty safe trail if you don't just let it fly and are an experienced rider. Recommend starting early, bringing sufficient water, a snack for the top, proper attire (lots of sun exposure), and a bell for the drop. Trails in good shape and the Views and ride are definitely Worth the effort. Highly recommend!! | Dry | view | |||

Jun 9, 2024 @ 9:15pm Jun 9, 2024 | mtb For mountain biking, one would ride in reverse: up Cherry Creek and left onto Ortega Trail back to the 33. However, after Cherry Creek which is an easy climb, expect overgrown vegetation significantly impeding fun factor, but the landscape as my buddy stated is mostly like Tunnel Trail in Santa Barbara. HOWEVER these rocks are extremely loose and large with soft dirt underneath, waiting to lodge your front tire and yank it out of the bars out of your hands. To top it off, much of this is hike a bike. Even with a moto, this would wear you thin, on an ebike it's push push push as there is little traction to climb through the moto torn track. The last 3 miles are fine as long as the vegetation is cut back, but alas not something I would climb to experience, let along 9 miles of it, and I LOVE Tunnel and Cold Springs in SB. | Dry | view | |||

All are easy to get over and are easy to see coming, tho the last draw that is washed out will take some work to get back. First couple miles from Hwy 33 is in decent shape. Last couple miles to Piedra Gene Marshall-Blanca intersection is overgrown but rideable. Trail is outside Wilderness and is open to bikes. Trail connections around to Piedra Blanca trailhead are also open to bikes as confirmed with signage on the trailhead kiosk map. | Unknown | view | |||
