Oct 30, 2025 @ 5:47pm (America/Edmonton) Oct 30, 2025 | mtb Trail starts out dry at east end but soon turns into a sheet of ice. Maybe it gets better further up. Not worth the trouble; there are plenty of dry trails on Prairie/Moose mountain. | Icy | view
Oct 14, 2025 @ 10:01am (America/Edmonton) Oct 14, 2025 | ebike 9km to Powderface Ridge. 1 hr up, 40mins down on ebike. Trail almost all rideable and very nice flowy trail past the Prairie Link intersection. | Ideal | view
Sep 7, 2025 @ 7:37pm Sep 7, 2025 | mtb Dry and in good condition all the way to the other side / 66 dirt road. Personally, I like the rebuilt trail even on a 160mm travel acoustic bike. Yes; you’ll breathe heavily, but it’s good fun and you really earn your turns. | Ideal | view
Aug 30, 2025 @ 9:47am Aug 30, 2025 | mtb Dry with a few minor water crossings, clear, fun. | Ideal | view
Aug 30, 2025 @ 9:47am Aug 30, 2025 | mtb Clear and dry except for one creek crossing that is quite muddy. Chose to walk it as it was short. | Ideal | view
Aug 13, 2025 @ 9:54pm Aug 13, 2025 | mtb Minor Water drainage issue, standing water on trail surface in one section, but very stable to ride over slowly without sinking in. Thanks to trail maintenance folks for clearing all the trees and setting so many new markers to guide through the alpine, it is a very clear path now. Dry loose and fun on the steeper sections, loamy through the upper forest. | Ideal | view

Jul 26, 2025 @ 10:15am Jul 26, 2025 | mtb Super super wet. From 7km it’s completely overgrown and almost no trail to be found. Not a recommended ride. Horses have destroyed what was a trail. | Wet | view

Jun 16, 2025 @ 3:45pm Jun 16, 2025 | mtb Mostly dry with a dozen wet spots from recent rain runoff on north side. | Ideal | view
Jun 16, 2025 @ 3:44pm Jun 16, 2025 | mtb Several puddles and muddy bits, nothing treacherous, just enough to dirty your bike. Saw three wild horses in the open meadow near Prairie Link junction. | Ideal | view
Jun 16, 2025 @ 3:40pm Jun 16, 2025 | mtb A few puddles but nothing significant. | Variable | view
Jun 16, 2025 @ 3:39pm Jun 16, 2025 | mtb The new trail to the summit (on east side) is great. You can now ride all the way to the top. Smooth but steep, so expect to take a lot of breaks. Reminds me of Shattered but without all the switchbacks. | Dry | view
Jun 8, 2025 @ 2:12pm Jun 8, 2025 | ebike Great job upgrading the climb | Ideal | view
Jun 8, 2025 @ 2:12pm Jun 8, 2025 | ebike A little overgrown and not ridden or hiked much | Ideal | view

May 30, 2025 @ 9:03pm May 30, 2025 | mtb https://kananaskis.org/powderface-creek-trail-project/ - project is done | Ideal | view
May 30, 2025 @ 8:58pm May 30, 2025 | mtb Powderface Creek reroute and rebuild is complete. From some point last the Link (riding east to west) the trail has a completely different feel. It feels an awful lot like the rebuilt Prairie Mountain trail now. Machine built, mostly smooth, and borderline too steep to grind up on a modern enduro bike unless you're in top shape. They were allergic to building proper switchbacks - I counted exactly one. It does make for a very fast, blue flow style return ride done as an out-and-back. Still limited berms - more of a very fast downhill pump track. The eroded mess and baby heads of the past are gone. | Ideal | view
May 25, 2025 @ 7:02pm May 25, 2025 | mtb May 25th - did the loop and this is now all dry. Some snow patches at the top in shaded areas but they're off the trail. | Dry | view

May 19, 2025 @ 10:37am May 19, 2025 | mtb Significant snow remains on the east side once you drop off the ridge. I'd give it a pass for a week or two to let that melt out to minimize the suffering | Snow Cover Partial | view
May 10, 2025 @ 5:17pm May 10, 2025 | mtb Mostly dry with a few wet bits. Creek still has snow and ice. | Variable | view

Nov 9, 2024 @ 5:20pm Nov 9, 2024 | mtb Mixed bag of conditions today - damp but not muddy in the alpine meadows/open areas, a skiff of wet snow overlying ice on some N and E aspects in the trees, and dry on the final S aspect descent. Rode on non-studded skinnies and ended up walking in a few spots due to ice. | Variable | view

Jan 6, 2024 @ 1:12pm Jan 6, 2024 | mtb mixed conditions - packed snow, chunky foot traffic packed snow, sugary snow, some ice. Rode as part of Powderface/Prairie Creek big loop | Snow Covered | view
Jan 4, 2024 @ 7:38am Jan 4, 2024 | mtb Top third was in good shape with some ice hiding under the snow pack. Middle third was an icy gong show - what looked like dirt was actually a dirty ice pack with very little traction, if you can't straight line it without brakes your going to be in a world of hurt. Bottom third was back to good packed snow traction with a few icy bits (you could feel the change to cold as conditions improved). Ride out on Prairie Creek was good with mostly grippy packed snow. | Icy | view
Dec 30, 2023 @ 9:41am Dec 30, 2023 | mtb Lots of knee deep snow drifts. Very difficult to go up, down or even find the trail. | Snow Covered | view

Oct 9, 2023 @ 6:27am Oct 9, 2023 | mtb Rockin' it Old School! | Ideal | view
Sep 29, 2023 @ 8:26am Sep 29, 2023 | mtb Work on the front side trail is done. It now features machine-built standard width all the way, and switchbacks through all the previous steeps. It's still very steep, but consistent grade. Drainage improved throughout. Flatter sections are similar to the original trail and have not been changed much. Old trail alignment has been heavily decommissioned with deadfall. | Dry | view
Sep 29, 2023 @ 8:22am Sep 29, 2023 | mtb Work on the front side is done - back side trail is open for business | Dry | view

Jul 23, 2023 @ 4:27pm Jul 23, 2023 | mtb Wild Horse trail is rough in sections, short climbs are lose rock, over grown, but a great old school ride. | Variable | view
Jul 2, 2023 @ 8:32pm Jul 2, 2023 | mtb PFC from elbow up to the ridge was all good, the steep climbs are loose and soul sucking as usual. Climb from the saddle to the summit was A+. | Ideal | view
Jun 8, 2023 @ 5:44am Jun 8, 2023 | mtb Prairie Mnt hiking/biking trail is closed for the summer as trail upgrades are underway. | Snow Covered | view
May 31, 2023 @ 10:50am May 31, 2023 | ebike There a two downed trees easy to get around or over and the snow hiding behind the ridge is down to 5 ft. Easy to go over | Dry | view
May 22, 2023 @ 9:32am May 22, 2023 | mtb Entire trail is perfect except for the very top which has a 15 foot section of snow. | Ideal | view
May 14, 2023 @ 2:16am May 14, 2023 | trailrun | Dry | view
Apr 4, 2023 @ 3:19am Apr 4, 2023 | hike With the warming conditions, snow would ball easily on your spikes. Unfortunately on the west trail to the summit, the grade is such you can’t currently climb without spikes. | Snow Covered | view
Feb 19, 2023 @ 1:07am Feb 19, 2023 | mtb Snow packed and icy at the bottom half but, nothing scary or need for concern. | Snow Packed | view

Nov 26, 2022 @ 2:43am Nov 26, 2022 | hike Some icy sections. Muddy as you are insight of the highway. Spikes are required. | Snow Packed | view

Sep 23, 2022 @ 11:27am Sep 23, 2022 | mtb Hard trail due to steep climbs. I cleared all the deadfall with my Silky Saw, so as of Sept 23, 2022, it’s all clear. Most of the climbing is pretty steep and I ended up pushing my bike. The trail tread is good and there is no real horse damage. Good backcountry trail if you don’t mind pushing uphill but don’t expect mind blowing downhills. They are okay. Old school XC. The best part is probably the last descent towards Powderface Creek Trail climb. That trail currently isn’t on Trailforks but I’ll add it. | Ideal | view
Sep 23, 2022 @ 11:27am Sep 23, 2022 | mtb Cleared a couple trees with my silky saw but I left a bigger one near the top because I had already spent nearly 4 hours clearing Ford Creek trail and I was pretty tired at this point. I think the big one might be 2 feet wide? I think a bigger silky saw could take care of it. | Ideal | view
Sep 18, 2022 @ 2:12pm Sep 18, 2022 | mtb | Dry | view
Sep 10, 2022 @ 11:17am Sep 10, 2022 | mtb | Ideal | view

Jul 23, 2022 @ 10:03am Jul 23, 2022 | mtb A few mud spots. Mostly great. | Ideal | view
Jul 23, 2022 @ 8:38am Jul 23, 2022 | mtb Trail is overall pretty descent. The good sections make up for the sections that need work. The section of trail that traverses along just above the creek is along steep side hill and the trail is slumping/sluffing down the hill. This could be fixed with some cribbing. Not sure who is responsible for maintaining this trail if anyone? Still a very good trail but hard steep push up. Not for the faint of heart. | Ideal | view
Jul 16, 2022 @ 8:39am Jul 16, 2022 | mtb | Dry | view

Feb 10, 2022 @ 9:57am Feb 10, 2022 | hike Mud and ice lower down. Packed in but soft. Spikes and poles ideal. On decent, lower area had turned to water puddles and slush. | Freeze/thaw Cycle | view

Oct 24, 2021 @ 2:53pm Oct 24, 2021 | mtb Tree down | Dry | view
Oct 7, 2021 @ 3:09pm Oct 7, 2021 | mtb Trail is in excellent fall conditions. Some signs of snow in spots but otherwise dry and grippy. | Ideal | view
Oct 4, 2021 @ 6:48am Oct 4, 2021 | mtb good conditions. First time riding it and got off route following a reclaimed logging road so keep an eye on trailforks! | Ideal | view
Oct 2, 2021 @ 1:15pm Oct 2, 2021 | mtb Trail could do with some maintenance, a good rake would go a long way, some sections midway could use a little digging as there is very narrow side slopes with some at rather extreme angles for riding | Dry | view
Aug 25, 2021 @ 7:44am Aug 25, 2021 | mtb A few damp spots and a couple small puddles on the way down the south end In the trees but nothing too bad. | Ideal | view
Aug 23, 2021 @ 6:38am Aug 23, 2021 | mtb mint except for mud at bottom | Variable | view
Jul 3, 2021 @ 5:45pm Jul 3, 2021 | mtb Running good. Could use a bit more traffic to blow some of the rocks off. Great technical climbing. Tree down on backside between the 2 wet spots. Walk around has formed. | Dry | view

Jun 16, 2021 @ 5:04pm Jun 16, 2021 | mtb Still a big pile of snow at the top as you drop down from the ridge but you can navigate your way around it. Otherwise the trail is in great condition and ready to ride for the season. | Ideal | view

Sep 28, 2020 @ 10:53am Sep 28, 2020 | mtb Lots of loose rock on the way down to the south towards the parking lot/pull out (as expected). There were a couple large trees down on the way down along with the three spring/creeks all the trees has ride arounds, they will need a chain saw to do anything about. Otherwise the conditions were quite good. | Ideal | view
Sep 16, 2020 @ 5:46pm Sep 16, 2020 | mtb Lots of dead fall. Lots of avalanche debris. Over grown in spots. Indistinct in spots. Lots of hills I had walk up. 3 hrs from Prairie Creek trail head to Little Elbow. I have no idea why this trail shows as green. I takes 5 times more effort than most the Blues along Hwy 66. | Dry | view

Aug 16, 2020 @ 7:47pm Aug 16, 2020 | mtb Cleaned up the trail through the reclaimed logging. Bit of trail has developed along the right hand side. We moved a few logs and things to make it easier and more visible. | Dry | view
Aug 15, 2020 @ 8:21pm Aug 15, 2020 | mtb Quirk-Wildhorse, Saturday morning. Great "old school K-Country" conditions overall, as dry as it ever gets. Elbow River crossings shallow and easy. Logging road going south between main gravel road and meadows has been reclaimed for 1.5 km, by covering with logging slash. A rideable path off to the side has been beaten out a bit, but is tedious. On Wildhorse coming back from the canyon viewpoint I noticed 2 on motos using what appears to be an alternative route to the reclaimed logging road, from just after the bridge where Wildhorse turns towards the valley heading west. See attached photo. | Ideal | view
Jul 26, 2020 @ 9:15pm Jul 26, 2020 | mtb First time I rode Wildhorse in years. Fairly washed out but some new routes bypassing the bad stuff. Doesn't look like its been ridden much this year. Likely because the quirk creek hookup is now a full on gravel road. Years ago was a double track. Descent(difficult) climb going up from Cobble--fast down on quirk but it is a full on gravel road. There is an atv path hooking up quirk and wild horse about 2/3 way up not on tf map. Photo is quirk creek. | Dry | view
Jul 25, 2020 @ 8:22am Jul 25, 2020 | mtb Some little mud pits but 99% of the trail is in great condition. | Variable | view

Jun 16, 2020 @ 7:29am Jun 16, 2020 | mtb Great ride up from gravel road to first peak. Riding from the first peak to the second peak...extremely muddy (over the pedals) snow patches, downed trees. The main downhill (the payoff) was in excellent condition. | Variable | view

Aug 5, 2019 @ 7:17pm Aug 5, 2019 | mtb The Quirk Creek road is being reclaimed at the South end, close to the Wildhorse junction. I had to walk through the forest for a couple of hundred metres. Best to GPS track Wildhorse at the South end, it gets pretty sketchy. | Dry | view
Jul 14, 2019 @ 10:00am Jul 14, 2019 | mtb A few muddy spots on the flatter sections lower down. Otherwise it was bomber | Dry | view
Jul 10, 2019 @ 3:56pm Jul 10, 2019 | mtb Dry on the uphill, fairly wet on some stretches on the downhill. Wet spot can stretch for a hundred meters, however it is good mud, i.e. not deep and doesn’t stick to your bike much! | Wet | view
Jun 19, 2019 @ 12:11pm Jun 19, 2019 | mtb Janky, wet. Gross. | Wet | view
Aug 11, 2018 @ 3:29pm Aug 11, 2018 | mtb Good to go. Make sure you follow the gps track as there is one misleading intersection a few KM in from Quick Creek trail. Old signage markers are fading fast. There are a few creek crossings in a few of the meadows but easily navigable. Ran into 2 groups of wild horses in different places. The DH is in good shape too. | Dry | view
Aug 11, 2018 @ 3:25pm Aug 11, 2018 | mtb Good to go. 70% of it is a logging road which is in good shape and offers a good warmup. Make sure to take the first major right after the bridge(s) in the meadow, which takes you to wildhorse, or another few KM to threepoint canyon after that. Trail goes back to old school double track shortly after wildhorse junction. I built a rock cairn at wildhorse, as it is easy to miss. | Dry | view
May 29, 2018 @ 7:06am May 29, 2018 | mtb Trail is dry except for a short snow drift you have to walk through and a handful of mud puddles. A challenging ride nevertheless. | Dry | view

Aug 17, 2017 @ 8:01am Aug 17, 2017 | mtb This was the first time I have been on this trail since 2013 floods. The entry and exit points are quite different but you can still find the Quirk Creek Trail and it is in great shape past the river with a couple of exceptions where the 4X4s have been at it. At the south end, where you hit the T intersection and head west, there has been extensive logging and the road is in good shape. When you get to the single track, there has been very little traffic, so you have to pick your way past the cows, boulders and logs to get to the proper trail head. From there the trail was good, someone has removed large trees that have fallen. The final decent to the Elbow River still has some tricky washed out sections, but nothing unrideable. We were riding alone, no crowds and an empty parking lot. We even saw the wild horses! | Dry | view
Jul 15, 2017 @ 5:04pm Jul 15, 2017 | mtb One medium sized tree across trail after dropping down from ridge. Trail is braided in sections, but is running fast, loose and dry. | Dry | view
Nov 4, 2016 @ 9:46pm Nov 4, 2016 | mtb Snow covered from Powderface Creek intersection. Climb up Powderface creek from Powderface Trail is snow/slush covered (2-3") with spots of damp dirt; rocks are visible but wet. | Snow Covered | view
May 30, 2016 @ 9:20pm May 30, 2016 | mtb Good, dry with very few wet spots. | Dry | view |
