SaveScolty is a forested area consisting of Scolty hill, Gough hill and the surrounding woodland, situated next to the town of Banchory. The hill is easily recognizable by the large stone tower at the summit, which can be seen from miles around. Scolty has a pay and display car park, which is signposted. There are a wide range of trails on offer up Scolty and in the surrounding woods, from simple forest fireroads, natural singletrack up Gough, to the infamous Scolty downhill tracks. Trail building is frequent at Scolty, so new features and trails pop up all the time.
Primary Trail Type: All-Mountain & Downhill
Land Status: Community Forest
Land Manager: Forestry And Land Scotland
Access Info:
Fireroads are all easy to follow, there is a large map at the car park. For Scolty and Gough singletrack, Trailforks is the best place to go. Most singletrack is either red or black rated and very natural, so can be tricky in the wet.
This region uses the Uk/Euro style trail grading system.
