Skaha Bluffs Park provides a variety of recreation opportunities including hiking, rockclimbing and wildlife viewing while also protecting habitat for a variety of species at risk. World-class climbing opportunities are found at Skaha Bluffs though it is important to note that climbing and further trail development is prohibited in the southern/eastern area for the park (the section of the park that encompasses Gillies Creek).
The distinctive terrain features of the bluffs along with the Gillies Creek corridor reflect extremely threatened riparian and grassland plant communities. In order to minimize impacts to species and their habitats, this section of the park has a legally binding conservation covenant over it, which restricts further recreational development. BC Parks has sanctioned 3 trails within this section of the park: Ward 1, Rock Oven and Sauerkraut. The original dirt road that follows Gillies Creek eastward is also a sanctioned recreation trail. These trails are multi-use trails, used by both hikers and bikers. As in the rest of the park, dogs must be on leash.
