A few areas are a bit overgrown onto the track making it slow going to avoid hitting invisible stumps or stones. Could do with a little bit of love. Be advised that the bridge to get to Waingaro hut at the very end is very narrow and is quite difficult to transport bikes over -- we left our bikes on the other side of the bridge overnight to avoid bringing over. | Variable | view | |||

Aug 5, 2015 @ 5:52pm Aug 5, 2015 | mtb Coastal parts of the Heaphy Track have been damaged by high tides and storm events. The affected areas are sections of the track at Koura Beach, Nettle Beach and Heaphy Beach. The track is not closed, but sections prone to erosion and sea encroachment have been re-routed as an interim measure to ensure public safety. Warning signs indicating the need to be aware of high seas and storm events were also in place. The track will be repaired in October so expect sections of walking for the remainder of the MTB season.
