Description:
Cold temps provided great trail conditions today. Monorail was very firm and stable for the entire trail. Water crossings were very manageable. Any warmer and the snowpack would be tough to navigate. Used microspike for the steepest parts. Brough snowshoes and crampons but they were not needed.
On the return, the lower parts of the monorail started to degrade due to the high sun angle despite the sub-freezing temps. Would not want to navigate the monorail in warmer weather as will likely start to posthole.
