Description:
The Virginia Creeper is an amazingly beautiful place to ride and a great place for experienced and inexperienced riders. First time riders should treat themselves to taking a shuttle to White Top Mtn and riding 17.5 miles downhill to Damascus. We have used several shuttle services through the years but our favorite shuttle is the Bicycle Junction in Damascus. The staff are awesome and the shop is the closest shop to White Top, so it is the first stop when you come back down into Damascus. Be sure to carry some snacks so that you don’t run out of energy. The Creeper Trail Cafe in Taylor’s Valley (seasonal hours) is a must, and their chocolate cake is a wonderful treat. A local church also sets up and cooks out for riders passing through Taylor’s Valley. They accept donations and use the money they raise to help the community. The Bike Patrol is a group of volunteers who ride the trail in search of people in need of help. They can handle scrapes and minor cuts and can quickly call in help for more serious issues. They also know their way around a bicycle in case you have a flat tire or break a chain. The Virginia Creeper is a wonderful place to unplug and enjoy a piece of yesteryear. The people in Damascus are like family and the smiles are nonstop and genuine.
