A gradual flat and wide uphill climb for about 3 miles. The trail is a little rubbly but smooth and hard packed. Makes for a great endurance trail with numerous unexplored side trails. The terrain is pine trees and birch and has great shade throughout. The Squirrel Springs trailhead has plentiful parking and a restroom facility.
