Omgeving
De route ligt bij het natuurgebied Engbertsdijksvenen, de Spartelvijver Sibculo, Landalpark de Vlegge en Museum het Klooster in Sibculo.

De Engbertsdijkvenen is een internationaal wetland en het grootste en belangrijkste hoogveengebied van West-Europa. Voor vogelliefhebbers, natuurliefhebbers en voor wandelaars is het een waar eldorado en door de inzet van vele vrijwilligers het best onderzochte faunagebied van Nederland.

Het gebied is ontstaan door veen en zandwinning, vandaar dat je door veengebieden heen komt en langs zandafgravingen.

Aard van de route
De mountainbikeroute Zand en Veen is een route met veel afwisseling. De route bevat uitdagende stukken voor meer ervaren mountainbikers. Op deze stukken is er voor de minder ervaren fietsers een omleiding (chickenway) gemaakt.

Ook zijn er stukken die over wat meer lange singletracks, zandpaden en bospaden gaan.

In het bos nabij Sibculo zijn zogenaamde Technical Trail Features (TTF) in het parcours opgenomen. Je vindt er springschansen, jumps, drops, vlonders, technische/snelle singletracks, een evenwichtsbalk, pittige klimmen, snelle en korte afdalingen.

Extra
Deze route maakt deel uit van het Mountainbikenetwerk Twente.

Detailed Description
Sibculo is a 15 mile less popular easy route located near Almelo. This mountain bike only route can be used one direction. This route climbs 180 ft with a max elevation of 74 ft then descends -185 ft.
