During the summer of 2015 Toronto hosted the Pan Am and Parapan Am games which brought a host of athletes (6,132) from 41 countries to the city. During the time that the games were being played an organization called The Friends of the Pan Am Path organized an art relay that included art installations and cultural events across the city. The events followed the Pan Am Path on a route that connected the existing trail networks across several major sections of the city. The Pan Am Path Art Relay was supported by the City of Toronto, Toronto Foundation, Ontario Trillium Foundation, Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund, Toronto Star, Toronto Arts Council, Trans Canada Trail, Canadian Heritage, United Way Toronto, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, Lotus Leaf, and Westbury National. The festival took place along the Pan Am Path, a multi-use, 80-plus km trail connecting Toronto’s communities.
