From Stone Road, this trail has a gradual climb over Wildcat Mountain past a 2022 thinning cut and then an older cut that is regenerating nicely and is providing good cover for a number of bird species that thrive in young forests.
The trail gets interesting upon reaching a ledge with a narrow view followed by a sharp descent over ledge that can be slick when damp. After crossing Wildcat Brook the trail rises again and follows the brook high above a ravine to George Washington Turnpike, where parking is unwelcome at the trailhead. Across the ravine is one of Burlington's finest ledges and rock jumbles with perhaps 20 rock jumble "caves" of various sizes. You'll get a good workout on the back as the climb up the ledge is quite steep and after a brief respite you climb again to top Wildcat Mountain before descending to the parking area on Stone Road.
