AM Trail: Another short but very fun Tokai special. It was reborn in 2017 as a rocky black grade trail that will test your skills and nerve from the outset. Enter the trail off a rock kicker on DH 1 and break left onto a mixture of sand and rocks. Keep left and on the high line rocks before dropping into a rock strewn rut of a trail that is interspersed with small rocky drops and a kicker. A rocky rough drop/descent takes you into the slow speed tech section as you turn right into a boulder roll down that requires brake control and nerve as you roll into more rocks and a gentle right then left before a short climb allows you to descend a very steep bumpy ramp onto the jeep track. What this track lacks in distance it makes up for in sheer fun.
Is this trail for you?: This black graded trail is possibly the most technical track at Tokai bar the upper reaches of DH 0.To master this track you need to be happy on steep rock strewn chutes and drop offs as well as steep slow rock rolls. If you’re confident on Cobra then this should be a piece of cake, but if not rather start there and work your way up to this one.
AM Trail: This is one of the few trails that starts off another single track at TokaiMTB. To access this black graded trail, take the first section of DH1 down to the junction with the AM Trail at the rock kicker jump. Keep left and over this jump to access one of the most technical trails at Tokai
A TMNP Level 3 Activity Permit is required to enter Tokai. Please consider joining TokaiMTB for R400.00 per annum. We build and manage the trails in Tokai you love to ride.
