This portion of the Arcata Ridge Trail connects from the Margaret Trailhead to Fickle Hill Road ~1/4 mile below Arcata Ridge (Upper) Trail.
The lower half winds through the forest w/ switchbacks and shallow berms while the upper half follows an old roadbed. As a descent, the lower section is fun and can be challenging for those building skills. As a climb the trail is generally steady but with short steep pitches and a few tight turns.
The topmost section of trail connecting to Fickle Hill Road is a tricky drop in for those not familiar with it. Climbing the top part will be hike-a-bike for most.
