Jack Shark was a long-time Comox District Mountaineering Club member who rebuilt the Augerpoint Trail after a forest fire burned the original trail decades ago. "Jack's Trail" is the new Buttle Lake trailhead start for doing the traverse. It is 1km north of the Augerpoint Day Use parking and the trail is marked with a blue arrow painted on the roadway.
Alternately the trail can be done from the Raven Lodge Trailhead at Mount Washington and follow the traditional route to the summit of Mount Albert Edward. Head WEST from the Albert Edward summit/ridge in the direction of Ruth Master Lake. Stay on the NORTH side of Ruth Master Lake and follow Augerpoint trail until you reacj Jack's Augerpoint trail in order to descent on the switchbacks down to Buttle Lake.
