This steep and rough but interresting trail climbs the south wall of Tuckerman Ravine, connecting the main floor of the ravine with the upper part of Boott Spur Trail. The Trail leaves the south side of Tuckerman Ravine Trail at the southeast corner of the clearing opposite the buildings at Hermit Lake, 2,4mi. from Pinkham Notch Visitor Center. From This clearing, Boot Spur Link descends south-southeast and soon crosses the Cutler River on a bridge then crosses John Sherburn Ski Trail and swings to the left, descending to a jct. with a former route of the trail at 0.2 mi. Here, Boott Spur Link turns right and climbs straight up the slope very steeply through woods and scrub, with rapidly improving views back into the ravine. The trail then continues to climb steeply over open rocks to the crest of Boot Spur, where it meets Boot Spur Trail.
