This trail is often under water and is typically only usable during the winter when the beaver pond is frozen.
The Charles River Trail is one of the older trails in the Vietnam Network and is also one of the original ways to get from below up to the Nemba land above. It is a well defined trail and, while mostly smooth, it has a lot of rocky and rooty surfaces in places. There is a narrow bridge along the way. At the Southern end there is a punchy climb to take you up to Middle Sister which, further up, joins with the top end of Three Sisters and the Main Trail and the Nemba land. It is a hard climb. Down below is the famous Whaleback Rock which you must ride.
The Charles River Trail can be accessed directly off the Whaleback Rock Trail or from the Holliston Highway, where it approaches the Rail Trail. From the South end it joins with Middle Sister and, further up, Three Sisters. Many people coming down from the Nemba Land enjoy bombing down this line. It is fast and quite techie with many rock features, jumps and logs along the way as well as many sessioning spots.
