The Cirque Peak Traverse is an alpine cross country route that leads from the top of New Army Pass south along the Sierra Crest, over the summit of Cirque Peak (3935m/12,985ft), and on to the Pacific Crest Trail at Chicken Spring Lake.

Most of the travel is through easy sand and gentle slopes. There are areas of boulder travel. The final descent to Chicken Spring Lake is a highlight, with 340m of steep and deep sand to plunge step down.
