This trail was rerouted in 2015 and climbs steadily through alternating forest and ridgetop meadow for just over 4 miles and 1500'. Spectacular mountain and valley views abound. The new trail surface is fairly wide, well graded and smooth if horse traffic has been kind. Expect a couple of creek crossings and scattered switchbacks (all rideable though some are challenging). The new section ends in a nice meadow, while the older, more primitive trail (not reviewed here) continues up for another two miles toward Sacajawea Peak. The old trail eventually intersects the Bridger Foothills trail. Access road may be impassable if very wet and passes through private land, so please respect private property and park at the trailhead at road end. High clearance vehicle recommended.
