Dark Trail follows Settlement Canyon Creek. From the parking lot there is a brief section of pavement just after the toll gate. Turn right onto the first dirt road. It quickly turns into single track. Just stay on the single track. There trail rules parallel, but not close to the paved road. This is a good ride for beginners. If they feel overwhelmed by dirt, they can use pavement to get them back to the trailhead. There is an awkward section that passes right through an established camp site. I'm usually rude and ride through, but you could switch to the pavement. At the top the trail and road align for a about 100 yards.
