DH3 has had dirt surgery recently and is now the second last section of the famous Tokai DH line, which has hosted several races over the years. This flatter lower section of trail makes up for its lack of corners, purposely omitted to maintain speed, with numerous features. If you hit them all well you'll spend quite a bit of time in the air. Beware as you do have to gather yourself swiftly for the take offs as they come thick and fast. From the big berm on level 2 keep to the right hand line and start with a table top, a step down and two more table tops before a hip to the right and a fast section beside the jeep track punctuated by a gap jump. From here, you can't relax until the end. Two smaller gaps start the progression session before you enter jump city. Get it right and you'll gather speed from the transitions. Watch out for the doubles and triples and the gap jump around 2/3 down. Next is a fast berm before you enter the trees just before the quarry section This is step down city. The first takes you down to the quarry floor and is followed by a step up hip and a brief roll to the final step down. This is DH 3 for now. Ride up and repeat or carry on into the new DH4
DH 3 starts at the same place as Vasbyt. Take the Main Jeep Track up to the junction with the Level 1 Jeep Track. As the trail levels out, you'll see the exit to DH2 on your left and the step berm entrance to DH3 on your right
A TMNP Level 3 Activity Permit is required to enter Tokai. Please consider joining TokaiMTB for R400.00 per annum. We build and manage the trails in Tokai you love to ride.
