Diep River Trail: This forms part of the Constantia Greenbelt Trail network. As a descent, the track is huge fun and starts on Southern Cross Drive and crosses three tar roads as it makes its way down. High speeds are possible and care must be taken to avoid cars at these points. As the trail is multi-use, bi-directional trail, expect hikers, dogs and other riders. The first section from the bus stop is steep and offers the option to take the faster line straight down, or the mellower version to the left. The next section is also fast and involves a rooty right hand corner over a bridge before speed picks up again as you approach the tar road. Across the road, the trail now descends the roughest terrain consisting of root filled dips and corners before a final flat section and yet another tar road. Across this, the trail is smoother and flattens out as it curves under the forest to meet Avenue Beauvais. As a climb this is where the trail starts. Its moderate at first but will test you as you get higher and the trail becomes rougher. The final push to the bus stop is a steep bermed affair where descending riders may be encountered.
This trail is accessed via the tar roads in the area. As a descent, enter the trail at the bus stop on Southern Cross Drive close to the intersection with Rhodes Drive or as a climb from Avenue Beauvais.
This is a multi-use trail and on public land. Be aware of other trail users including runners, hikers, dogs and walkers and even horses.
