Dump Out Trail is the rockiest trail in the South Hills network, making it a love-it-or-hate-it affair for locals. The trail runs along the eastern flank of Mount Helena, rising slightly to the south. Much of the trail is in the open and lies on limestone bedrock, so it drains well and doesn't hold snow for long. This makes it a good off-season trail, although there are a few isolated places along the trail that will hold moisture. Dump Out combined with Prospect Shafts Trail is a good option for winter riding in Helena.
