A very scenic climb on an old road bed to an abandoned fire lookout. The summit affords a commanding view of the Rocky Mountain Trench extending from Elko to Fairmont Hot Springs. Popular with hikers. Two options to start: for a longer but lower angle ascent begin by passing through the locked gate to the west of the parking area and take the old road up and then right, or for a steeper climbing challenge head east past the kiosk.
