The trail starts on Duncan Drive, passes between some houses, and climbs a short steep slope with loose dirt before passing through a fence and reaching a road bench. A series of stone steps ascend the bench cut and then the trail climbs up through several switchbacks ascending toward the ridge. The trail turns directly uphill and follows a fence line to the ridge crest and then drops down to a saddle before climbing again to a junction with the North Hills Ridge trail. The trail then drops down the other side of the ridge ending at a junction with the Homestead trail.
