The Notch shortcuts the more gradual descent/climb on West Pine trail. There is a descent-only ride line and a hike line with stone steps. Both are signed.

Descending MTBers will find a a steep granite slab with roots at the top and a tricky run-out.

Foot traffic can use the Notch in either direction. The hike-line with stone steps is on your right when descending.
