This is a popular and scenic hike. This is a great shuttle if you have that option. Rocky and picturesque on the east, and a nice walk up to to Wall Lake from the west.
From the Bald Mountain Pass Trailhead this trail is pretty sun exposed. The tree coverage is light and many of the trees are dead, so expect to be out in the sun for much of the hike. This does over multiple views of the surrounding rocky peaks for much of the first half of the hike. Reids Peak is very prominent for the entire hike and you can also see Mount Marsell off in the distance.
Depending on water level, there is a great rock jump ino Notch lake from the west side of the lake where the east end of Notch Mountain drops off a cliff in to the lake. If you want to get around Notch Lake, you will need to swim it, or at the very least, get very wet.
The trail itself is well worn with many nice wooden bridges of the boggy sections. There are a few very rocky sections, but nothing really loose or steep, and for most of the hike you just walk along the path. Also, take note of the profile, this hike goes down a good ways then climbs back out.
