This is one of the steepest sustained climbs in the SLC trail system. The lower section is always a mess of deep rain ruts and branches. Make it through that and you have a steep baby-head climb to more baby-heads. Make it to the grassy slope where you take a right turn onto a steep rugged rock face. Climb that and you get to roll a relatively smooth path to a 360 degree view from the top. Sometimes you will find yourself surrounded by dozens of pioneers from “This is the Place” hiking to the top with you.
