Climb from the Shingletown Gap parking lot up past the reservoir, bear right and cross over the stream on the big log. From there, it will be a short hike-a-bike for about 0.2 miles then the trail becomes rideable.
After the climb you'll bear left and follow the Red White blazes on the trees. Follow this trail that intersects with several others until it becomes Charcoal Flats trail.
You'll pass two distinct areas where hikers/bikers camp.
