This trail serves as both a connector to Jacobs Ladder and a full alpine ascent up through the rocks to Lake Hardy. The connector isn't too bad, as with not so much elevation or altitude, but the ascent to Lake Hardy is pretty unrelenting and the high altitude doesn't help. Once you are about half way the through the rocks the trail goes up the rocks and is a bit of a scramble and climbing in spots. There are rock cairns to mark the way, but way finding is not always easy.
