Tamarack is essentially a long, consistent switchback climb to a spectacular view point. Put your seat up high, flick into granny gear and power up this beautifully built singletrack trail to the top of Malde Creek FSR.
From the top trailhead, options include either turning around and descending the same route down for a super playful, flowy, intermediate descent of Tamarack Mtn, or continuing across Malde Creek FSR to reach the trail-heads of more difficult trails such as Whiskey, Cherry Poppins, Crown Point (upper) or the Flume.
Historical Note: This area to the south of Rossland was heavily logged at the turn of the last century when the town was bustling was gold fever. The 'Doukhobor's' (a Russian pacifist sect) were brought in to log the Draw adjacent to the trail, and hence the name.
