Very pleasant trail connecting up the Picture Rocks area to the Camino del Cerro Trail Head parking. From the Trail Head, the trail first traverses and climbs to the Thunderbird Mine. Here the trail turns steeply down the hill to the Gile Monster Mine. Expect some chunk and steep slopes on this segment and don't miss the impressive crested saguaro just south of the Gila Monster Mine. Beyond the Brittlebush junction the trail follows the canyon and eventually enters the wash as the route becomes the Gila Monster Trail. Much of the route is on AZ State Trust land, which does not sign the trail junctions--so stay alert if you are looking for the Cactus Canyon or Brittlebush trails.
