The best early season trail for mountain biking, horseback riding, and hiking. Crossings at Scatter and Slate creeks may become difficult in the spring due to high water. Generally up and down route is along hillside above the Twisp River. Highlights: Occasional views. A good day trip for a family outing.

From Twisp, Washington, drive west on Twisp River Road (Okanogan County Road 9114),at about 10 miles turn left onto Buttermilk Creek Road (county road 1090) which crosses a bridge across Twisp River, follow the West Buttermilk Road to the right onto the road that becomes Forest Service Road #4420 to Twisp River Sno-Park, about 1.5 miles from bridge.
Additional access points to Twisp River Trail are: near War Creek Bridge (where there is limited parking), Scatter Creek Trailhead, Slate Creek Trailhead, and South Creek Trailhead. Some of these trailheads require a valid recreation pass.
