Vasbyt Lower: This descending only green graded trail has some features more worthy of a blue trail but all are avoidable with easier options around them. The trail surface is sandy but has been reinforced where necessary and there are a few sections where loose rocks can add a challenge.
Vasbyt (upper) crosses a loose and rocky jeep track section and enters this lower section with a dip and optional jump on the right. From here you'll find more berms including a real beauty that turns you 90 degrees to the right and over two rollable boulder options. A short distance on and you have a choice - the left and fun fork takes you into the old Troll Bridge section. No more bridges here, but instead a blue graded technical rock garden descent and an optional jump at the exit. For an easier ride, keep right and do a longer loop through the Fynbos. Watch out for riders descending the Troll Bridge section on your left as you descend. From here, the trail provides one or two optional jumps and some corners but be prepared to pedal a bit to maintain momentum. Now you'll enter the quarry section which has been revamped to incorporate some existing features taking the trail up and over some big rollers where airtime is possible for the fast and brave. From the quarry, the trail heads into the Alien Tunnel section where some fun berms eventually lead to the My Roots section as the trail curves under the DH4 bridge.

Is this trail for you?: While it is a green graded trail, Vasbyt Lower offers more technical features than most. You will encounter berms of varying heights, sand and rocky sections as well as optional jumps. The gradient is mostly gentle so speed isn’t an issue but good brake control and the ability to maintain traction on this track is a must.

Access Info

This trail is part of Vasbyt and the best way to ride it is from the trailhead as the Main Jeep Track meets the Level 2 Jeep Track. Climb the Main Jeep Track until you see the Level 2 Jeep Track on the right. A short climb takes you past DH3 on your right and then Vasbyt's entrance close to the farm fence line.
